Fire Retardant Additives

Fire retardant additives such as Boric Acid, Silica Fume, STMP, and vermiculite can be added to gypsum plasterboard to improve its fire resistance by reducing the spread of fire and lowering the temperature of the material when exposed to heat. At the same time, some form a protective layer over the material’s surface, which further helps slow the spread of fire.
