Corrosion Inhibitors
Corrosion inhibitors are substances added to concrete mixtures to prevent or reduce corrosion of reinforcing steel and other metallic components embedded in concrete. Corrosion inhibitors work by providing a barrier separating the reinforcing steel from the concrete or controlling the corrosion process.
Standard Chemicals International supplies inhibitors such as calcium nitrite, sodium nitrite, and sodium thiocyanate, which form a passive film on the surface of the reinforcing steel, preventing corrosion.
The use of corrosion inhibitors can help extend the service life of concrete structures and prevent the need for costly repairs and rehabilitation.
