Sodium Carbonate – Standard Chemicals International

Sodium Carbonate

  • Sodium Carbonate (Na2CO3) is used as a pH modifier in the flotation process. It is added to the pulp to increase the pH and make the slurry more alkaline. This increases the effectiveness of collectors, particularly for sulfide minerals such as galena and pyrite, which require a high pH for efficient flotation. The addition of sodium carbonate also helps to precipitate unwanted metal ions, such as Iron and Aluminum, which can interfere with the flotation of valuable minerals.
