Magnesium Oxide

• Magnesium oxide (MgO) is an excellent alkaline additive that provides an improved resistance to pH changes, with a maximum attainable value of 10. It is compatible with fresh water or brine-based systems and does not lead to any precipitation in the presence of calcium. It is the safest alternative to caustic soda with no risks to operators. Magnesium oxide can also serve as a clay extender and viscosity regulator in clay-based fluids and has anti-microbial properties. We offer different MgO powder grades with purities and reactivities chosen to cover the variety of requirements for drilling fluid formulations.
