Flow and Dispersing Agent

Flow, dispersing, and water-reducing additives are used to manufacture gypsum boards, also known as drywall, to improve the flow properties and workability of the mixture.

Melamine Sulfonate, PNS (Poly Naphthalene Sulfonate), Polycarboxylate, and Lignosulfonate are commonly used as flow and dispersant additives in producing plasterboard (a.k.a. gypsum board and drywall). These additives are available in free-flowing fine powder and liquid forms and can be found in technical and industrial-grade specifications.

Flow additives improve the fluidity of the mixture, allowing it to be poured or pumped quickly and evenly. This results in a more uniform and consistent product with fewer defects or inconsistencies. Dispersant additives help to create a stable and uniform dispersion of particles within the mixture, reducing clumping and promoting even distribution. This is particularly important in the case of gypsum boards, where uneven distribution can result in weak spots or inconsistent quality.

As the name suggests, water-reducing additives reduce the amount of water needed in the mixture to maintain a given level of workability. This helps increase the final product’s strength and minimize the risk of shrinkage or cracking.
