Concrete Admixture

The use of concrete admixtures can help improve substantial performance in various ways, including setting times, strength, durability, workability, and corrosion control.

Using water reducers (including superplasticizers), retarders, accelerators, defoamers, filler materials, fibers, air trainers, and pumping aids allows for more workability and can increase the material’s strength and durability.

Water reducers like Lignosulfonate, Superplasticizers such as PCE (Polycarboxylate Ether), and PNS (Poly Naphthalene Sulfonate) are used to improve the workability and strength of concrete.

Accelerators can be helpful when concrete may take longer to set naturally in cold weather conditions. Accelerators, such as Calcium Chloride and Sodium Thiocyanate, are used to speed up the setting time of concrete.

Retarders can be helpful in hot weather conditions when concrete may set too quickly. Retarders, such as Sodium Gluconate, Tartaric acid, or Citric acid, are used to slow down the setting time of concrete.

Corrosion inhibitors can help to extend the lifespan of concrete structures by preventing the steel reinforcement from corroding. Corrosion inhibitors, such as Calcium Nitrite or organic mines, protect reinforced concrete from corrosion.
